No Sugar Apple Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. water
    1 c. raisins
    2 medium apples, peeled and chopped
    1/4 c. shortening
    2 tsp. cinnamon
    1 egg
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/4 c. nuts (optional)
    1/4 tsp. nutmeg
Preparation
    In saucepan, mix water, raisins, apples, shortening, cinnamon and nutmeg.
    Bring to boil and simmer 3 minutes.
    Cool.
    In mixing bowl, beat egg.
    Add vanilla and the cooked mixture, flour, soda, salt and nuts.
    Mix well.
    Put in a greased or sprayed cake pan. Bake at 350\u00b0 for about 25 minutes or until done.
    Remove from oven and set on rack 10 minutes.
    Turn out and cut into 24 bars.
    Serve warm or can be frozen.
