Basic Bread Stuffing - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. minced yellow onion
    3/4 c. minced celery (some leaves)
    1/2 c. butter, margarine or bacon drippings
    2 qt. stale bread crumbs or soft white or whole wheat
    2 tsp. poultry seasoning or 3/4 tsp. each sage, thyme or marjoram
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    1/4 c. minced parsley
    1 to 2 eggs, beaten (optional)
Preparation
    Saute onion and celery in butter in a skillet over moderate heat 5 minutes until pale golden.
    Mix with remaining ingredients, tossing with 2 forks.
