Devil'S Food Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 c. sugar
1/4 c. lard or butter
1 egg
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 c. sour milk
1 tsp. soda
6 tsp. cocoa
1/2 c. boiling water
1 1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. almond extract

Preparation

Cream sugar, salt, shortening and egg.
Add sour milk with soda dissolved in it; add flour, then dissolve cocoa in boiling water and add to mixture.
Add flavoring.
Bake in greased and floured pan at 350\u00b0.
