Thumbprint Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. shortening
    1/2 c. brown sugar
    2 egg yolks (save whites)
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 c. sifted flour
    chopped nuts
Preparation
    Mix shortening, sugar, egg yolks and vanilla.
    Stir in flour and salt.
    Roll 1 teaspoon dough into ball and dip in slightly beaten egg whites.
    Roll in chopped nuts.
    Place on baking sheet and press thumb in middle.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 12 minutes.
    Let cool and fill the center with filling.
    Refrigerate after a couple of days.
