Layered Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 head lettuce, torn
    1/2 onion, chopped
    1/2 c. bacon bits
    1 can peas, drained
    1/2 c. mild Cheddar cheese, shredded
    1 to 1 1/2 c. mayonnaise
    2 tsp. sugar
Preparation
    Layer peas, lettuce, onion and bacon bits in deep bowl or 9 x 13-inch pan.
    Cover with mayonnaise, sprinkle with sugar and cheese.
    Seal and refrigerate overnight.
    Mix well before serving.
