Oriental Beef And Vegetables - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. beef, cut into thin slices about 2 x 1/2-inches (flank steak, round steak or roast, etc. can be used)
    1/3 c. soy sauce
    1 clove garlic, minced
    1/2 c. water
    2 medium green peppers, cut in thin strips
    6 stalks celery, thinly sliced diagonally
    1 can sliced water chestnuts, drained
    2 small onions, thinly sliced
    1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce (with tomato bits, if available)
    2 Tbsp. cornstarch
Preparation
    Mix the soy sauce, garlic and water and pour over slices of beef.
    Marinate 30 minutes, turning occasionally.
    Drain meat, saving marinade.
    Brown meat in a large skillet or Dutch oven in 1/4 cup vegetable oil.
    Remove meat from pan and cook the green peppers, celery, water chestnuts and onions for a few minutes until tender-crisp.
    Mix reserved marinade with tomato sauce and cornstarch.
    Put beef and mixture into pan with vegetables and cook until sauce thickens.
    Serve over hot rice.
