Meringue Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 egg whites (at room temperature)
    1/8 tsp. salt
    2 drops peppermint or 1/2 tsp. vanilla or favorite flavoring
    2/3 c. sugar
    1/2 c. chocolate bits or chips
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 400\u00b0.
    Beat egg whites until stiff, gradually adding sugar and salt.
    Beat until peaks form.
    Add flavoring and chocolate bits.
    Fold until well mixed.
    Cover cookie sheet with waxed paper.
    Drop batter by teaspoon onto cookie sheet.
    Do not make too big.
    Batter expands.
    Place in oven; turn oven off! Leave overnight in oven.
    If made in daytime, leave in oven at least 4 hours.
    Makes 5 dozen.
