Roman Apple Cake(A Rich Delight) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
    1/2 c. brown sugar
    1/2 c. white sugar
    1/2 c. cold butter, cut into bits
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/8 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. soda
    1/2 c. buttermilk or sour milk
    1 egg
    1 large or 2 small tart apples
Preparation
    Heat
    oven
    to
    325\u00b0.\tSift
    the
    flour.
    Add\tsugars, butter,
    cinnamon and salt.
    Use hands to crumble this mixture until
    blended, but not oily.
    Divide the crumbs into 2 parts. Stir
    into\t1/2
    the crumbs the soda, buttermilk and egg, combined and beaten.
    Place 1/2 of this batter in a deep greased ovenproof 9-inch pie plate.
