Pecan Tarts - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. brown sugar
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    1/8 tsp. salt
    1 c. milk
    2 1/2 Tbsp. flour
    1/2 c. nut meats
    1/2 c. hot water
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 eggs, lightly beaten
    1 Tbsp. powdered sugar
Preparation
    Prepare medium syrup by boiling sugar and water together; set aside to cool.
    Add flour and salt to lightly beaten eggs.
    Add milk and mix well.
    Cook mixture in double boiler until thick and smooth, stirring constantly.
    To this add half of the brown syrup and shortening. Remove from fire.
    Add vanilla and cool.
    Put 2 tablespoons of mixture in each tart shell.
    Place 4 pecans on top. Use remaining syrup to cover the pecans and put a tablespoon of whipped cream in the center of each.
    Put in icebox and chill. Makes 12 tarts.
