Teriyaki Marinade - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. soy sauce
    1/4 c. water
    3 cloves garlic, pressed through garlic press
    8 coin-sized slices fresh ginger root, pounded slightly to release flavor
    1/4 c. plus brown sugar
Preparation
    Mix all ingredients.
    Add enough brown sugar until the marinade tastes a little too sweet (very important).
    Do not eat ginger root!
    A little dry drinking sherry may be added for extra flavor. May be used for beef or chicken.
    Best if marinated for at least 8 hours.
