Fried Green Tomatoes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. cornmeal
    1/2 c. flour
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    4 to 5 tomatoes, sliced 1/2-inch thick
    shortening (for frying)
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    Mix dry ingredients in a bowl.
    Dredge tomatoes in mix on both sides to coat them well.
    Use enough shortening to make 1/4-inch depth when heated in skillet.
    Heat skillet to medium-high.
    Fry tomatoes a few at a time, without touching each other, about 2 minutes on each side.
    They should be golden brown.
    Drain on paper towels.
