Boston Brown Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. raisins
    2 c. boiling water
    1 tsp. salt
    1 c. sugar
    1 beaten egg
    1 Tbsp. shortening
    2 3/4 c. sifted flour
    2 tsp. baking soda
    1/4 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 c. nuts
Preparation
    Let raisins and boiling water stand 3 hours.
    Grease and flour 3 cans (No. 2 cans, Campbell's chunky soup size).
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Cream sugar, eggs, shortening and salt.
    Sift flour and soda together.
    Alternate adding raisin juice and flour mixture to creamed mixture.
    Add vanilla, nuts and raisins.
    Fill cans.
    Bake one hour at 350\u00b0.
