Onion Rings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 large onions
    butter
    1 c. self-rising flour
    2 tsp. salt
    2/3 c. water
    1 Tbsp. cooking oil
    1 beaten egg white
Preparation
    Cut rings and place in ice water (approximately 2 cups), that has been sweetened with a heaping tablespoon of sugar.
    Allow onions to soak in the refrigerator at least 2 hours before frying. Drain onions and dip in batter.
    Fry in deep, hot oil.
    Do not prepare batter until frying time.
