Aunt Florie'S Prune Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 c. butter
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 c. buttermilk
    1 c. milk
    3/4 c. shredded coconut, freshly grated or store-bought (for cake)
    3 c. cake flour, sifted
    3 tsp. baking powder
    3 egg whites, stiffly beaten
    2 c. sugar
    1 c. butter
    3 egg yolks
    1 tsp. pure almond extract (for full bodied flavor do not use imitation)
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Sift the flour, baking powder and salt together twice.
    Set aside.
    In a small, separate bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff.
    Refrigerate beaten egg whites for later.
