Maraschino Nut Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/8 c. flour
    1 1/3 c. sugar
    3 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. shortening
    16 maraschino cherries, chopped
    1/4 c. cherry juice
    1/2 c. milk
    4 large egg whites, unbeaten
    1/2 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Sift first four ingredients.
    Add next four ingredients and beat 2 minutes.
    Add egg whites.
    Fold in nuts.
    Bake in two 8 or 9-inch round cake pans or a loaf pan at 350\u00b0 for 30 to 35 minutes. Frost with a buttercream frosting.
