Peas In Tomato Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 large pork shoulder steaks, boned, defatted and cut into 1/2-inch cubes
    1 large onion, diced
    1 can tomato sauce with bits
    1 small can tomato sauce
    salt and pepper to taste
    2 cans peas (reserve juice, or substitute green beans)
Preparation
    In 3-quart saucepan, brown the meat over high heat.
    After browned, reduce heat and braise for about 1 hour adding a little water as needed.
    Add diced onions, stir and cook until translucent.
    Add salt, pepper and tomato sauce along with the juice from the peas (or beans).
    Cover, reduce heat and let simmer for approximately one hour until sauce thickens.
    Add peas or beans and just heat through.
    Serve immediately over rice.
