Cherry French Toast - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 eggs
    1/2 c. milk
    1/2 c. cherry preserves, orange marmalade or raspberry jam
    16 slices thin, firm-textured bread
    1 Tbsp. margarine or butter
    fruit-flavored syrup (optional)
Preparation
    In a shallow bowl, beat together the eggs and milk; set aside. Spread 1 tablespoon of preserves on 8 slices of bread.
    Top each with remaining bread, pressing together lightly.
    Dip filled bread into egg mixture, coating both sides.
    In a skillet or on a griddle, cook bread in hot margarine or butter over medium heat about 2 minutes on each side.
    Add more butter or margarine as needed.
    Serve with fruit-flavored syrup.
