Ingredients

2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. packed brown sugar
1/2 c. granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate pieces
Preparation

Stir together flour, soda and salt.
In a bowl, beat butter and shortening on medium speed of electric mixer for 30 seconds. Add sugar and beat until fluffy.
Add eggs and vanilla; beat well. Add dry ingredients to beaten mixture, beating until well combined.
Stir in chocolate pieces.
Drop from a teaspoon 2 inches apart onto an ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake in a 375\u00b0 oven for 8 to 10 minutes or until done.
Remove; cool.
Makes about 72.
