Stuffed Cabbage Rolls - cooking recipe
Ingredients

12 cabbage leaves
2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 1/4 lb. ground meat
1 c. cooked rice
1 small onion, chopped fine
1 egg
1/2 tsp. poultry seasoning or thyme
2 Tbsp. oil
2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
1 Tbsp. brown sugar
1/4 c. water
1 Tbsp. lemon juice or vinegar
Preparation

Cook the cabbage
leaves until limp in boiling water; let cool.
Combine the salt, pepper, ground meat, rice, onion, egg and poultry seasoning and place in leaf.
Roll up.
Use toothpicks if you have to.
Put the oil in a large frying pan or Dutch oven. Put in the rolls.
Pour the tomato sauce over the rolls.
Combine the brown sugar, water and lemon juice and pour in over the rolls. Simmer, covered, 1 hour, basting occasionally. Add more tomato sauce, if you use chicken filling.
Makes 6 servings.
