Chow-Chow - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. chopped cabbage
    12 onions
    12 green peppers
    12 red peppers
    2 qt. chopped green tomatoes
    5 c. sugar
    mixed pickling spice
    2 or 3 qt. vinegar
Preparation
    Mix vegetables with 1/2 cup salt.
    Add sugar and spices to vinegar (20 minutes).
    Add all the other ingredients and simmer.
