English Toffee - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. butter
    1 c. sugar
    1/4 tsp. salt
    3/4 c. blanched slivered almonds
    5 (1 1/4 oz.) chocolate bars or 1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
    1 c. chopped pecans
Preparation
    Have ready a large buttered cookie sheet.
    Combine all ingredients, except chocolate and pecans in a large buttered saucepan.
    Cook over medium-high heat until mixture changes to a deep caramel color.
    Pour immediately onto prepared sheet and spread as thinly as possible.
    Place chocolate on top and spread over top of candy as chocolate melts. Sprinkle pecans over top and press into chocolate with spatula while chocolate is still warm. Cool.
    Break into pieces of desired size.
    Never fail candy!
