Beef Stew (Italian Style) - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 lb. stew meat
1 onion
2 Tbsp. shortening
6 c. water
8 potatoes, peeled and cubed
3 carrots, peeled and cut into chunks
3 stalks celery, cut into chunks
1 can tomatoes (ground)
2 bay leaves
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 garlic clove, chopped fine
3 bouillon cubes
Preparation

Saute onions and meat in shortening until meat is browned. Add water; cover and simmer 1 to 2 hours until meat is tender. Add potatoes, carrots, celery, tomatoes, bay leaves, salt, pepper, bouillon and garlic.
Add enough water to cover vegetables. Simmer about 1 hour or until vegetables are done.
