German Cole Slaw - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 large cabbage (3 lb.)
    1 medium onion, sliced thinly
    1 c. sugar (reserve 1/4 c.)
    1 c. white vinegar
    1/2 c. oil
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. dry mustard
Preparation
    Layer cabbage, onion and sugar (3/4 cup).
    Cook 1/4 cup sugar, oil, vinegar, salt and dry mustard.
    Pour over cabbage (do not stir).
    Let marinate for at least a day or more.
