Strawberry Meringue Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2/3 c. shortening
    1/3 c. sugar
    2 eggs, separated
    1 1/2 c. sifted self-rising flour
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 c. chopped walnuts
    1 c. strawberry preserves
Preparation
    Cream shortening and 1/3 cup of sugar until fluffy.
    Beat in egg yolks.
    Stir in flour and mix well.
    Press mixture into bottom of ungreased 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
