Light Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. milk
    1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. shortening
    2 tsp. salt
    3 1/2 c. plain flour
    1 pkg. dry yeast
    1/4 c. warm water
    1 egg
    3 c. plain flour
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
Preparation
    Mix flour, soda, salt and baking powder in large bowl.
    Pour in raised yeast mixture.
    Stir until flour has been absorbed.
    Knead until light.
    Divide in two equal portions.
    Drop each half of dough into greased standard size loaf pan, turning over to grease on all sides.
    Press in bottom of pan to form smooth loaf.
    Let rise until doubled in bulk.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 for 30 to 35 minutes. Yields 2 loaves.
