German Peach Pudding - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/3 c. butter or margarine
    2/3 c. sugar
    1 egg
    1 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/3 c. milk
    4 c. chopped peaches
    1 c. sugar
Preparation
    Cream together butter and 2/3 cup sugar.
    Beat in egg thoroughly.
    Sift together the flour and baking powder, then add in alternately with the milk to the egg and butter mixture.
    Beat until smooth.
    Pour into 1 1/2-quart casserole or 8-inch baking pan.
    Pour over the batter 4 cups chopped peaches that have been sweetened with 1 cup sugar.
    Bake in a moderate 350\u00b0 oven for 40 minutes or until done.
    Serve with or without cream or hard sauce. Can use any kind of fruit instead of peaches (pineapple, cherries, pears, etc.).
