Split Pea Soup - cooking recipe
Ingredients

8 c. water
1 c. dry split green peas
1/2 c. dry baby lima beans
1/8 c. uncooked barley
1 large yellow onion, chopped
2 bay leaves
1 tsp. celery seed
2 carrots, chopped
2 stalks celery, chopped
1/2 pkg. beef stew seasoning mix
2 potatoes, chopped
1/2 tsp. paprika
2 Tbsp. parsley flakes
1 tsp. basil
1/4 tsp. pepper
Preparation

Bring water, split green peas, baby lima beans, barley, onion, bay leaves, celery seed, carrots, celery and beef stew seasoning mix to a boil in a large stockpot; cover, reduce heat and simmer 1 1/2 hours.
Add potatoes, paprika, parsley flakes, basil and pepper; stir and continue cooking an additional hour.
