South Carolina Cobbler - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. sliced, peeled, fresh or frozen peaches, thawed
    1 1/2 c. sugar, divided
    1/2 tsp. almond, divided
    1/2 c. margarine, melted
    3/4 c. flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    pinch of salt
    3/4 c. milk
Preparation
    In a bowl, gently toss peaches, 1 cup of sugar and almond extract; set aside.
    Pour margarine into a 2-quart baking dish. In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt and remaining sugar; stir in milk.
    Mix well.
    Pour evenly over margarine (do not stir).
    Top with peach mixture.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 50 to 55 minutes or until golden brown.
    Yield: 8 servings.
