Ingredients

3 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. shortening
1 egg
1 tsp. almond flavoring
split almonds to press on top
Preparation

Blend shortening into dry ingredients; add egg (lightly beaten) and almond flavoring.
Chill; roll into balls and dip tops in sugar.
Place on baking sheet; flatten slightly and press almonds in centers.
