Ingredients

1 wide mouth gal. jar
1 qt. berries without leaves or stems
2 1/2 lb. sugar
Preparation

Heat berries in quart of water to boiling point (do not boil). Stir occasionally.
Let cool.
Put sugar into jar.
Add berries and water until almost to the neck (not full).
Stir until sugar is dissolved.
Cover with a white cloth and tie with a string or rubber band to make sure no fruit or vinegar flies get in.
