Ingredients

1 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. plus 2 Tbsp. sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. cinnamon
Preparation

Cream the shortening and 1 1/2 cups of sugar.
Add eggs.
Sift together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt.
Mix the dry ingredients with the shortening mixture.
Mix well. Chill dough 1 hour.
Roll out dough into balls about the size of a walnut.
Mix 2 tablespoons of sugar and 2 teaspoons of cinnamon. Roll each ball in the cinnamon mixture.
Put on ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake at 400\u00b0 for 8 to 10 minutes.
Makes 5 dozen.
