Applesauce Jam Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1 c. vegetable shortening (not oil)
    2 eggs, beaten
    2 c. applesauce
    2 1/4 c. flour
    1 c. raisins
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. chopped nuts
    2 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. cloves
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 c. blackberry jam
Preparation
    Cream together shortening and sugar.
    Add beaten eggs, jam, raisins and nuts.
    Sift together flour, soda, salt and spices. Add alternately with applesauce.
    Makes 4 layers.
    Cook at 325\u00b0 for 30 minutes.
    Ice with Caramel Icing.
