Ingredients

1 1/4 c. dates, snipped
1/8 tsp. salt
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. water
1 Tbsp. lemon juice
3/4 c. nuts, cut fine
1 c. butter
1/2 tsp. salt
2 eggs
1 1/2 tsp. soda
2 c. brown sugar
3 1/3 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Cook dates, salt, sugar, water and lemon juice until thick; add nuts.
Cream butter, brown sugar and eggs.
Add flour, salt, soda and vanilla.
Chill in fridge 1/2 hour.
Divide in 3 parts. Roll out to 1/4-inch rectangle.
Spread thin layer of date mix. Roll up like a jelly roll and chill until firm enough to slice. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 12 to 15 minutes.
