Easy Refrigerator Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 c. thinly sliced cucumber (about 1 3/4 lb.)
    2 c. thinly sliced onion
    1 1/2 c. vinegar
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. mustard seed
    1/2 tsp. celery seed
    1/2 tsp. ground turmeric
Preparation
    Place half of cucumber in a large bowl.
    Top with half of onion.
    Repeat layers with remaining cucumber and onion.
    Combine vinegar and remaining ingredients in a medium saucepan.
    Stir well. Bring to a boil over medium heat; boil 1 minute.
    Pour hot mixture over cucumber and onion.
    Let cool.
    Cover and marinate in refrigerator at least 4 days, stirring twice each day.
    Yields 7 cups (37 calories and 2% fat per 1/4 cup serving).
