Uncle Herbert'S Peanut Brittle(1960) - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3 c. sugar
2 Tbsp. margarine
pinch of baking soda
1 1/2 c. raw shelled peanuts
1/2 c. coconut flakes
Preparation

Put sugar in a heavy saucepan over medium-low heat.
As the sugar begins to melt, stir constantly with a wooden spoon.
When the sugar is a boiling liquid, stir in a pinch of baking soda and margarine.
Remove from heat.
Fold in peanuts and coconut flakes. Pour onto a well-greased cookie sheet; allow to cool until hard. Crack into pieces with an ice or meat mallet.
Store in waxed paper at room temperature.
