Aunt Virginia'S Pralines - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 level tsp. baking soda
    1 1/2 c. pecans
    1 tsp. vanilla
    3 Tbsp. butter
Preparation
    Combine sugar, buttermilk and baking soda in a large saucepan. Bring to a boil and cook until light brown or until it's to the soft ball stage on a candy thermometer.
    Remove from heat and add pecans, vanilla and butter.
    Beat until mixture is not runny. Drop by tablespoonful onto a sheet of waxed paper.
