Ingredients

1 c. white or brown sugar
1/2 c. shortening or oleo
2 t. cream of tartar
1 egg
1/2 c. milk
3 1/2 c. flour, sifted
1 t. vanilla
Preparation

Mix ingredients in order given and chill. Take out enough dough each time to roll thin, but so as to be easy to handle. Do not handle the dough more than necessary, but use only enough flour on a board to pat into a ball and roll without sticking. Cover rolling pin with cloth to roll. Put a large spoon of filling on cookie and cover with another thin cookie. It is not necessary to press them together. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 8-10 minutes.
