Apple Dumplings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 2/3 c. sugar
    2 c. water
    1/3 c. butter
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 standard pie dough
    4 to 5 large apples, peeled and sliced
Preparation
    Combine the first 4 ingredients in a pan and boil for 5 minutes.
    Roll out pie dough and cut into 4 squares.
    Put apples in center of each and sprinkle with a little sugar and cinnamon. Fold up, seal and lay upside down in greased pan.
    Pour warm mixture over the dumplings.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 1 hour, until tops are brown.
