Kentucky Mile-High Biscuits - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. flour (all-purpose)
    1/4 c. sugar
    4 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
    3/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 egg, beaten
    1 1/8 c. milk
Preparation
    Combine dry ingredients in a mixing bowl.
    Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
    Add egg and milk all at once; mix until dough forms a ball.
    Turn dough out on a lightly floured surface and knead 10 to 12 times.
    Roll out to 3/4-inch thickness; cut with floured 2 1/2-inch biscuit cutter.
    Place on ungreased baking sheet and freeze.
    When biscuits have frozen, they may be stored in a plastic bag in the freezer until needed.
