Cherokee Bean Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. cornmeal
    1 1/2 c. flour
    3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 c. water
    1 egg
    1 c. cooked pinto beans
    1/2 c. chopped ham, fried
    small pinch of baking soda
Preparation
    Mix all dry ingredients in a large bowl. Add milk, water and egg. Beat until mixed well. Add beans and ham just until mixed. Pour into well-greased heavy skillet or pan.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for about 40 minutes. Top should be slightly browned.
