Spice Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

2 c. sugar
3/4 c. shortening
2 c. water
1 1/2 c. raisins
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. soda
chopped nuts (optional)

Preparation

Bring sugar, shortening, water and raisins to a boil.
Cool. Add remaining ingredients sifted together.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 40 to 45 minutes.
Frost with broiled Orange-Coconut Topping.
Yield: one 9 x 13-inch cake.
