Hawkeye Corn Fritters - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 c. whole kernel corn, drained
2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
1 egg
1/2 c. milk
1 tsp. melted shortening
Preparation

Add corn and all dry ingredients which have been sifted together. Beat the egg, milk and shortening together. Pour into the corn mixture and mix very well. Drop from a teaspoon into hot shortening and fry until golden brown on all sides. (Should look like hush puppies.)
Drain on absorbent towel and serve piping hot with powdered sugar sprinkled over them.
