Ingredients

1/2 c. oil
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. powdered sugar
2 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Blend oil and shortening together with electric mixer.
Add sugar, then egg and vanilla and beat until creamy.
Sift flour with soda, cream of tartar and salt and add to creamed mixture. Chill dough.
Form into 1-inch balls; place on ungreased cookie sheet.
Flatten with bottom of a glass that has been dipped in granulated sugar.
Dip glass in sugar each time before flattening the cookies.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 10 to 12 minutes or until very lightly browned.
