Faux Champagne - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    2 c. water
    2 c. unsweetened grapefruit juice
    juice of 1 lemon
    1/4 c. grenadine
    2 (28 oz.) bottles ginger ale
    lemon peel strips
Preparation
    Simmer sugar and water in saucepan until sugar dissolves; cool.
    Place juices and grenadine in punch bowl.
    Add syrup and stir well; chill.
    Add ginger ale just before serving.
    Add lemon peel strip to each glass.
    Makes 18 glasses.
