Baked Split Pea Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (16 oz.) pkg. split peas
    8 c. cold water
    1 1/2 c. sliced carrots
    1 1/2 c. sliced celery
    1/2 c. dried minced onion
    2 tsp. dried thyme, crushed
    1 tsp. celery seed
    1 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1 bay leaf
    1 lb. fully cooked kielbasa sausage
Preparation
    Slice sausage 1/4 inch thick.
    Add this after the first 2 hours of baking.
    Bake above ingredients 2 hours at 350\u00b0 in covered Dutch oven (not necessary to stir at all).
    Bake 30 minutes more after adding sausage or until peas are tender and sausage heated through.
    (You may use fresh onion and chicken broth for part of liquid.)
    Could also use ham bone and chunks of cooked ham.
