Favorite Beef Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 lb. beef chuck, cut in cubes
    1 1/2 Tbsp. margarine
    1 Tbsp. salad oil
    2 red onions, chopped
    1 carrot, thinly sliced
    1 garlic clove, minced
    1 tsp. salt
    2 bay leaves
    1 1/2 c. vegetable juice
Preparation
    Coat beef with flour, salt and pepper.
    Brown in butter and oil mixture.
    Brown onions; add carrots, garlic, 1 teaspoon salt, bay leaves, meat and vegetable juice.
    Bring to boil; cover, reduce heat and simmer 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
    Remove the meat; thicken liquid, then pour over meat.
