Pavlova(A Favorite Australian Dessert.) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 egg whites
    1 c. sugar
    3 drops vanilla extract
    1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
    pinch of salt
    1 can fruit salad, drained
    kiwi and fresh strawberries (optional)
    1 c. heavy cream
Preparation
    Heat oven to 200\u00b0.
    Beat egg whites with salt and cream of tartar until frothy. Gradually beat in sugar, a little at a time. Continue beating until stiff and sugar is dissolved.
    Beat in vanilla extract.
    Cover a cookie sheet with brown paper or aluminum foil. Draw a 9-inch circle and spread meringue evenly within the lines.
    Make a slight hollow in the center for the filling. Bake for 1 hour.
    Turn off heat and let dry in oven at least 2 hours.
    When ready to serve, whip the cream until thick. Fold in fruit and fill center of Pavlova. Can garnish with strawberries and kiwi.
