Panocha - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. brown sugar
    1 c. milk
    2 Tbsp. butter
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. nutmeats
Preparation
    Put the sugar and milk into a saucepan and cook to the softball stage or 238\u00b0.
    Remove from the fire.
    Add butter and vanilla and cool without stirring.
    When it is lukewarm, beat until it is creamy.
    Stir in the broken nutmeats.
    Hickory nuts, walnuts or pecans are especially nice.
    Pour into a buttered pan and, when it hardens, mark into squares.
