Caramel Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/4 c. sugar
    5 egg yolks
    pinch of salt
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 c. flour
    2 c. milk
    2 Tbsp. butter
    pastry shell(s)
Preparation
    Place 1 cup of sugar in an iron skillet and brown slowly.
    To 1 1/4 cups of sugar, add 1/2 cup of flour and mix well.
    Beat the 5 egg yolks together and add 2 cups of milk; add this to the sugar-flour mix gradually.
    Add a pinch of salt, 2 tablespoons of butter and a teaspoon of vanilla.
    Heat this mixture in a double boiler until it reaches the boiling point.
    Add this mixture to the melted sugar and stir constantly until thickened.
    Pour it into a pastry shell and place meringue on top.
    Brown in a slow oven.
    Makes 2 small pies or 1 large one.
