Scalloped Squash - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 medium squash
    1 large onion, sliced
    1 egg, lightly beaten
    1/2 tsp. black pepper
    1/2 c. milk
    2 Tbsp. melted butter
    1 tsp. salt
    1 c. fresh bread crumbs
    2 c. shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Grease 2 1/2-quart casserole.
    Wash squash and cut into 2-inch pieces.
    Put with onion in a saucepan of salted water.
    Cook about 10 minutes or until squash is tender; drain.
